Pancreatic Cancer is Dropping “Yelling ‘Freebird!’ at Funerals” – and It’s as Wild as You’d Expect

Punk rock has never been about playing it safe, and Pancreatic Cancer is proof of that. The band—featuring Sarah Herrera (formerly of Exploited Cocks), Jimmy from The Tommy Lasorda Experience, and Sarah’s brother Matt on drums—is gearing up to release their new album, Yelling “Freebird!” at Funerals, sometime this month. And if the tracklist is anything to go by, it’s going to be loud, weird, and absolutely unapologetic.

With songs like “Drunk In The Studio (There May Have Been Others),” “Full Disclosure (I Am A Stalker),” and “Love Me Anywhere (Except In An Elevator), the album blends sarcasm, chaos, and even a bit of unexpected emotion. There’s even a Celtics tribute track (“I Cried When Tatum Hugged His Son”) because, apparently, punks have feelings too.

Sarah has been in more bands than she can count—some with names too offensive to print. Growing up in a Colombian-American household, she never actually learned Spanish, which led to some hilarious attempts at singing in the language. Her song “Soy Mitad Latina Pero No Puedo Hablar Español Ni Salva Mi Vida” became an accidental hit at her local pool hall, where everyone enjoyed her Google-translated lyrics.

But her life isn’t just music—it’s also pure chaos. One of her most recent disasters? Her ex-boyfriend Eddie got hold of her phone, posted her personal number and address on Facebook, and left it up for five days before she even noticed. Now, her friends want to use one of the disgusting voicemails she received as an intro to a song. She’s… not thrilled.

Between dyslexia (which has led to some songs being recorded backward), a deep distrust of Gmail, and a very specific hatred of being called “ordinary,” Sarah is exactly the kind of person you’d expect to be fronting a band like Pancreatic Cancer.
