Richmond’s own BlizzyNoKizzy has never been one to blend in. Known for his sharp lyricism, raw storytelling, and a relentless grind that’s earned him respect both locally and internationally, he’s now stepping into a new era with his latest project, Separate from the Rest, dropping October 16th. This isn’t just another release it’s a statement.
For an artist who’s built his reputation on independence, consistency, and truth-telling, Separate from the Rest captures BlizzyNoKizzy’s evolution as both a man and musician. The project feels like a victory lap after years of groundwork but also a reflection on the self-awareness that comes with success.
“All the gloves were off.” BlizzyNoKizzy on the project’s message
When asked what the title means to him, BlizzyNoKizzy doesn’t hesitate. “It’s a statement,” he says. “I’ve always been reserved, humble I don’t talk my hot shit too often. On this project, all the gloves were off.”
That raw energy is a direct response to the climate of today’s music scene, where authenticity can sometimes feel rare. “So many people sound the exact same,” he continues. “It’s hard to find originality. Everybody telling the same story, and most of the time the story isn’t even theirs.”
For BlizzyNoKizzy, Separate from the Rest isn’t just about ego it’s about survival. It’s a reminder of what it means to build something real from the ground up: “Not too many people can say they charted independently, no manager, went from stressing over bills to having their own place and taking care of their lady before 25 all legit.”
Finding purpose through the low points
The project’s emotional core came from a difficult but transformative period. “I had like four different versions of this project,” BlizzyNoKizzy admits. “But what really shaped the final one was when I went through a creative low and slight depression.”
That moment birthed Much Needed Break, the project’s opening record a song that captures his self-reflection and rebirth. “I stopped dropping as frequently and took a step back from everything,” he shares. “This project became about rebuilding myself, remembering who I am.”
Freedom, growth, and finding his sound
BlizzyNoKizzy’s creative process has also evolved alongside his environment. “All my other projects were recorded at my parents’ crib,” he says. “Now I’ve got my own spot I can be as loud as I want. It’s a mental thing, like I was operating at 50% unless I was home alone.”
The result? A cleaner, bolder sound that showcases his versatility. Fans who noticed the sonic growth on “Back At It” and “Fake” will recognize how far he’s pushed his artistry. “I’ve been experimenting a lot more,” he explains. “There’s a country-inspired song I plan to drop soon, and even a Jersey club record on this project. I’m really testing myself and having way more fun with it.”
Collaborations that clicked
When it came to production, BlizzyNoKizzy tapped into a network of talented producers he’s built genuine connections with names like RAF NITE, MarkMyWords, Jonathan Percs, and Bailey Daniel. “They get my sound,” he says. “They’ll send me packs just to mess with.”
While Separate from the Rest is mostly a solo journey, there’s one standout feature: Skidda. “He was at the Atlanta relaunch got that real gritty boom bap bounce,” BlizzyNoKizzy says. “Our chemistry is insane.” He also sent several tracks to trusted peers like Corey Jah and TrvpStar for feedback, a testament to how grounded his creative circle is.
A soul-searching favorite: “Caribbean Oceanz”
If there’s one track that defines Separate from the Rest, BlizzyNoKizzy says it’s “Caribbean Oceanz.” “That’s a very deep record,” he explains. “It’s mellow and soulful. I’m reminiscing a lot thinking about life lessons.”
The song captures BlizzyNoKizzy’s trademark duality: honesty and vulnerability intertwined with survival instinct. “I ain’t struggle as a kid, but I made a lot of bad decisions,” he says. “It shows both sides I’ve seen beautiful things, but I still feel the need to keep a strap on me ‘cause I’ve been caught lacking before.”
It’s this duality that keeps fans drawn to BlizzyNoKizzy’s music the wisdom of someone who’s seen both light and shadow and refuses to let either define him completely.
A final word
Separate from the Rest isn’t just a title it’s BlizzyNoKizzy’s truth. It’s a declaration of individuality in a scene full of noise, a story of resilience told with rhythm and reflection. With each record, BlizzyNoKizzy proves that success built on authenticity hits harder and lasts longer than any overnight hype.
As he continues to carve his own lane, Separate from the Rest stands as both a reminder and a milestone: the real ones always rise.
